PSYCHOLOGIST PROFESSIONAL OPPORTUNITY

Thrive Emerge -- a unique treatment setting serving the needs of high-functioning, neurodivergent (ASD, ADHD) teens and young adults struggling with the transition to independence -- is seeking a clinical psychologist (PhD, PsyD) to become a part of our multidisciplinary clinical team and to help manage a vibrant treatment program.

The successful candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

  1. Knowledge of and clinical experience with neurodivergent populations

  2. Ease with a neurodiversity approach that validates the unique worldview of each individual and focuses on strength building rather than “fixing what is broken”

  3. Excellent diagnostic, treatment planning and case management skills

  4. Excellent behavioral and depth therapy skills

  5. Experience working on -- and preferably, helping to manage -- a multi-disciplinary treatment team.

  6. The professional (minimum of 10 years in clinical practice) and personal maturity to work with a complex population

Thrive Emerge’s flagship program, The Village, sits on the cutting edge of service delivery for a very challenging and fascinating population that is grappling with small “t” trauma as a barrier to their emotional progress.  Our clinicians are comfortable with:

  1. Working with a lively team of neurodivergent enthusiasts

  2. Working in a non-traditional outpatient setting -- a peer-based approach that combines work in an outdoor setting with brief mental health and life skills interventions

  3. Providing “real time” therapy to help quickly resolve challenges and setbacks

  4. Using humor and playfulness with patients as a foundation for connection and healing, while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries

  5. Creative, out-of-the-box and sometimes on-the-spot problem solving

  6. A fast-paced clinical environment where the “group think” of a coordinated team effectively meets the rapidly changing needs of this population

  7. A family-focused approach that engages with and guides parents, as well as the teen and young adult patients.

The Thrive Emerge treatment philosophy matches well with the candidate looking for a rewarding, supportive professional environment with colleagues that value one another’s perspectives as foundational to effective, compassionate care.

Job responsibilities will include:

  1. Evaluations -- a combined effort of both the psychologist and the psychiatrist to create a comprehensive picture of patient functioning from a neurodivergent perspective

  2. Case Formulation/ Treatment Planning -- generate specific treatment goals and methods to be used by the team as a basis for assessing progress and directing care

  3. Case Management -- consult throughout the week with the clinical team to maintain progress on treatment goals and to update interventions as needed

  4. Attend Team Meetings -- the clinical team meets four hours weekly

  5. Attend Executive Meeting weekly to coordinate clinical and administrative needs of Thrive Emerge

  6. Participate on the team that runs the Thrive Emerge Continuing Education Program to ensure the high professional standards of the APA

  7. Psychotherapy -- providing 15 hours of clinical care weekly in both outdoor and virtual settings

  8. Participate on the Medication Management team

  9. Coordinate with Program Director on clinical, administrative and programmatic issues

  10. Actively engage with the treatment team to manage clinical emergencies

This is a part-time salaried position in which compensation is commensurate with training and experience.  There is potential for growth into a leadership position.
